Advancements in the field of AI bring good news to many fields like healthcare, transport, customer support, etc.
It is helping communities and businesses enhance their potential. AI holds massive potential to change the way we live today.
That’s why many companies have poured their efforts and resources to make significant progress in this field. Thus starting the race to make the best AI model out there. Many have put in valiant efforts in creating chatbot AI over the years. And now, the tech giants have entered the race course as well.
On 6th February 2023, Google unveiled Bard, a conversational AI and we cannot stop learning more about it. Here is everything you will need to know about Google Bard AI to date. Use this here :
LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) is a language model developed by Google. A language model is something that analyzes the use of language. This model was trained to understand what is the actual context of a dialogue.
Since it can understand context, it seems as if it listens and responds. Which means, it can keep up with the flow of a conversation.
It revolves around providing possible outcomes based on the predictions about the next words in a sequence. Usually, language models are trained on texts however, LaMDA was trained on dialogue. Google trained it to search patterns in sentences and understand the correlation between words in a sentence.
It is a leap in conversational AI. Because, it can understand parameters like intent, reinforcement learning, etc.
When conversing with other AI chatbots people realized a flaw. Open-ended conversations often confused the conversational AI bots. However, because of the way LaMDA was trained, it can overcome these issues. Meaning, it can easily converse on any random topic.
And now, Google has come up with Bard AI which is powered by LaMDA.
Google Bard AI is a conversational AI service based on LaMDA. The aim of this model is to combine knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of their language models. So, Bard AI can access information from the web and come up with fresh, high-quality responses.
Currently, Google released this conversational AI chatbot with a lightweight version of LaMDA. It has significantly less computing power, making it scalable to more users. Moreover, it allows room for feedback as well. Google aims to combine external feedback with its internal testing. This will ensure that Bard can provide high-quality responses.
Eventually, it aims to augment Google’s search tools and provide automated support. Also, with these developments, AI can provide human-like interaction for businesses.
Here are some ways in which the Bard AI chatbot wants to make our lives easier
Google also plans on onboarding individual developers and enterprises. That way, they can try out Generative Language API. The plan is to create a suite of APIs and tools that will make building innovative applications easy with AI.
Before Google Bard AI another AI chatbot was the talk of the town, OpenAI’s Chat GPT. It had swept the world off its feet. For the last couple of months, all everyone could talk about was Chat GPT. There was curiosity about the endless possibilities and Chat GPT’s potential. And just when people thought the excitement is over, Google stepped into the arena with Bard AI. Now naturally, everyone wants to know how the two are going to compare. Here’s how:
While writing this article, Google Bard is not available to everyone yet. Only limited beta testers can access it right now. However, a wider launch is on the cards, possibly in the upcoming weeks.
But, once it is accessible to everyone, it is expected to be integrated into Google Search. Meaning, users can access it while asking questions through the search bar.
Once this chatbot AI is available, users can then use it for various tasks like finding answers, automating tasks, using it as a personal assistant, etc.
For now, if you are not a tester, you will simply have to wait for new developments to try out this new tool.
Just as the news of the Bard AI chatbot started making the rounds, another news followed. When the entire world is watching, the slightest slip-up can cause a ruckus. Google’s one AI bot mistake wipes $100bn off its market value. But what happened exactly?
A tweet promoting the Bard was released on 6th February. In that tweet, the bot was asked what to tell a nine-year-old about the discoveries James Webb Space Telescope.
Bard responded that it was the first to take pictures of a planet outside the solar system. But, in reality, the European Very Large Telescope achieved that milestone in 2004. This huge mistake was not going to go unnoticed. Sure enough, an astronomer caught the mistake on Twitter.
This thus ensued a string of tweets that remarked on this slip-up.
Google claimed that Bard AI could provide fresh high-quality responses due to its vast training set. But, a factual error in its promotional video makes us think if it will live up to its hype.
During the initial phase of any AI chat, such errors and hiccups are expected. But, the Bard AI bot mistake was broadcasted in the promotional tweet. This cost them billions. Now, we can only wait to see how they overcome this roadblock.
Google’s Bard AI is all set to be the next big step in the AI revolution. Its foundation makes it accessible to many users at once. Moreover, since it has access to information on the internet. so, we can hope for fresh and factually correct answers.
Even if Bard is in its early stages right now, one can expect some significant developments in the future. What’s even more exciting is Google’s next step, the AI-powered suite of tools for organizations. How long do you think it would be before we get to experience them?
