Introduction

A popular Japanese Kendo saying goes, "The most important thing is to be in a position where you can strike at any time." This resonates deeply with Dino Serrao, an Italian photographer who took a leap of faith in March 2020 by quitting his 9-5 job. While unemployed, he started a project that made him popular on social media—photographing seemingly ordinary people and telling their extraordinary stories.

As his project grew, Dino wanted to collect the experience of his subjects being photographed. That's when he turned to Feedspace for help.

Challenges of a Passion Project

Dino's photography project had gone global, and with it came a few requirements:

  • The Need For Inspiring Others: Dino believed in the uniqueness and beauty of each person. He wanted those he photographed to be able to inspire others.
  • Telling More Stories: Everyone has a story, big or small. Dino wanted to collect these stories from the people he met. Whether it was a blacksmith he met in Norway or a Kendo martial artist in Japan!
  • Showcasing Multiple Experiences: Dino wanted to showcase the experiences of those he photographed, as his project was as meaningful to them as it was to him.

Discovering the Perfect Solution: Feedspace

In his quest to perfect storytelling, Dino found Feedspace. It was the perfect tool to collect data from his portrait subjects about their experience with him.

  • Dino realized all he had to do was ask those he met to share how they felt.
  • The best way to get people to share their stories is to let them be themselves. With Feedspace's feed form, Dino asked his subjects to record a 30-second clip about their experience or story after meeting him.
  • Dino now had a lot of stories to tell. He used Feedspace once again to showcase these stories using the Wall Of Love feature. For example, Yamasan, a kendo practitioner from Japan, sent Dino a video dedicating a unique kendo martial art performance to him, made possible through Feedspace!

The Impact of Feedspace.io

Feedspace helped Dino build a close-knit community among the people he photographed. Everyone could now watch or hear another's experience, making them feel like they were a part of something big.

Conclusion

Dino Serrao's journey from a 9-5 job to a globally recognized photographer shows the power of following one's passion. Dino was already great at what he did. Feedspace just made his job easier by helping him inspire others and build a community around his work.
