How Do I Add a CNAME Record in Bluehost?

Last updated on June 15, 2026

Overview

With custom domain setup, you can display your review forms on your own branded domain instead of the default Feedspace link. This allows you to create a more professional and consistent experience for your visitors.

In this guide, you will add a CNAME record in Bluehost to point a subdomain (e.g., reviews.yourdomain.com) to Feedspace. Using a subdomain helps avoid conflicts with your main domain settings and ensures a smooth setup.

Step 1: Log into Feedspace

Go to Feedspace and log into your account.

Step 2: Navigate to Custom Domain Settings

From the left sidebar, click on Settings, then select the Custom Domain tab to begin the setup process.

Step 3: Enter Your Subdomain

  • In the Custom Domain field, type the subdomain you want to use (e.g., reviews.yourdomain.com).
  • Note the CNAME target value shown on screen — you will need it in the next steps.

Step 4: Log into Bluehost

  • Go to Bluehost.com and sign in to your account.
  • Once logged in, you will be taken to your Bluehost dashboard.

Step 5: Open the Domains Section

  • From the top navigation or the left sidebar, click on Domains.
  • Find the domain for which you want to add the CNAME record.
  • Click Manage next to that domain.

Step 6: Open DNS Settings

  • On the domain management page, click the DNS tab.
  • This will show all existing DNS records for your domain.

Step 7: Add a CNAME Record

Scroll down to the CNAME section and click Add Record. Fill in the following fields:

  • Host: Enter the subdomain prefix you want to use (e.g., reviews).
  • Points to: Enter cname.feedspace.io as the target hostname.
  • TTL: Leave this set to Automatic unless you have a specific requirement.

Step 8: Save the Record

  • Once you have filled in all the details, click Save to apply the new CNAME record.
  • The record will appear in your DNS records list after saving.

Step 9: Verify Your Domain in Feedspace

  • Return to Feedspace and click Verify Domain.
  • Once verified, Feedspace activates SSL automatically and your custom domain goes live.

Step 10: Wait for DNS Propagation

  • DNS changes typically take 30 to 60 minutes to propagate, but can take up to 48 hours in some cases.
  • You can use a free tool like dnschecker.org to confirm your subdomain is resolving correctly before clicking Verify.
