How to Add a CNAME Record in Cloudflare

Last updated on September 30, 2025

Overview

With custom domain setup, you can display your review forms on your own branded domain instead of the default Feedspace link. This allows you to create a more professional and consistent user experience for your visitors.

In this section, you’ll add a custom domain or subdomain (e.g., reviews.yourdomain.com). Using a subdomain helps avoid conflicts with your main domain settings and ensures smooth setup.

Step 1 – Log into Feedspace

Go to Feedspace and log into your Feedspace account.

Step 2 – Navigate to Custom Domain Settings

From the left sidebar, click on “Custom Domain” within the Account Settings section to begin the setup process.

Step 3 – Enter Your Domain

  • In the Custom Domain field, type the subdomain you want (e.g., reviews.yourdomain.com).
  • You can also upload a favicon for the domain – make sure the file size is under 5 MB.

Step 4 – Log in to Cloudflare

Step 5 – Select Your Domain

  • From your Cloudflare account’s list of domains, click on the domain you want to manage.
  • This opens that domain’s panel (Overview, DNS, etc.).

Step 6 – Go to DNS Settings

  • In the left sidebar under the selected domain, click DNS.
  • You’ll see a list of existing DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, etc.).

Step 7 – Add a CNAME Record

  • Click the Add record button.
  • In the Type dropdown, select CNAME.
  • Fill in the Record Details
  • Name: The subdomain prefix you want to use (e.g., reviews, app)
  • Target: The target hostname you want it to point to (e.g. app.feedspace.io)
  • TTL: Time to Live. Leave it as Automatic unless you need a custom value.
  • Important: Make sure to disable the Proxy option (the small orange cloud icon) and set it to DNS only.
  • If Proxy is enabled, Cloudflare will mask the CNAME target, and Feedspace will not receive the correct value.
  • You should see a gray cloud icon after disabling proxy.
  • After filling in everything, click Save to save the record.

  • Once verified, the domain will be activated and labeled as Activated in the Custom Domain settings.

Step 9 – Verify & Test

  • After saving, the new record will appear in the DNS records list.
  • Wait for DNS propagation (usually within a few minutes to several hours, sometimes up to 24-48 hours).
  • Use tools like dig, nslookup, or an online DNS checker to confirm your subdomain is resolving correctly.
