Overview
A reviewer’s email address is information you collect for your own records. It is not part of the public review. When you embed a widget or share a Wall of Love, the email a customer typed in never appears to your site visitors.
This matters when you collect testimonials from real customers and want to publish them without exposing their contact details. You can show the review, the name, and the company on your site while keeping the email private, so you stay reachable for a thank-you or a follow-up without putting anyone’s inbox on display.
What visitors actually see on a public review
On a widget or a Wall of Love, each review can show the reviewer’s name, photo, job role, company, star rating, the review date, and the review text, audio, or video. The reviewer’s email is not one of these fields, so there is no toggle to hide it. It is simply never rendered on any public surface.
You can control which of the visible details appear. In the widget editor, open the Design tab and use the Widget Content Customization options to turn details like the review date or ratings on or off. On a Wall of Love, the same kinds of controls live under Review Content Customization on the Design tab.
Where the email is kept
The email a reviewer submits is stored privately so you can reach the customer. You can see it inside Feedbox when you open a review’s detail panel, and it is used for features that contact the reviewer, like sending a thank-you message. None of these are public pages, so the address stays with you.
What’s next
If you would rather not collect a reviewer’s contact details at all, you can collect anonymous reviews on your Feedspace form. To follow up with a customer after they submit, see how to reply to a review in Feedspace.
Common questions
Will the email show if I embed the widget on my own website?
No. The embed renders the same public review your visitors see, and the email is not part of it. Embedding the widget anywhere does not expose the address.
Can I still email a reviewer if their email is hidden from the public?
Yes. The email stays available to you inside Feedbox and in the send thanks flow. It is only hidden from your site visitors, not from you.
Does this apply to reviews I imported from other platforms?
Yes. Whether a review came from your own form or an import, the public widget and Wall of Love show only the visible review details. No reviewer email is displayed for any review.
