Overview
The Horizontal Scroll widget in Feedspace displays your reviews as a continuously moving, looping ticker that scrolls cards horizontally across the page without stopping. Unlike a static grid or a manually advanced carousel, every review in the ticker is visible for only a few seconds as it passes through the screen, so the text on each card must be short and readable at a glance.
This makes the search and filter tools in the Select Reviews tab especially valuable for the Horizontal Scroll layout. Rather than manually scanning your full review library, you can use the search input to locate reviews by keyword, then apply the filter panel to narrow the list by review type, source platform, star rating, sentiment, and labels. The result is a focused shortlist of concise, high-quality reviews that work well as the ticker scrolls past your visitors.
How to Search and Filter Reviews for Your Horizontal Scroll Widget
Step 1: Open the Horizontal Scroll Widget Editor
- Log in to your Feedspace account.
- From the left sidebar, click Share Reviews, then select Widgets.
- Find your Horizontal Scroll widget in the list and click the edit (pencil) icon to open the widget editor.
Step 2: Go to the Select Reviews Tab
Inside the widget editor, click the Select Reviews tab at the top of the editor panel. This tab shows all reviews available in your Feedspace account, each displayed as a card with the reviewer name, review text, star rating, and source platform.
Step 3: Search for Reviews by Keyword
At the top of the Select Reviews tab, type any word or phrase into the search input. Feedspace instantly filters the list to show only reviews whose text, reviewer name, or company name matches your query. This is the fastest way to find reviews that mention a specific feature, product, or topic you want to highlight in the ticker.
For the Horizontal Scroll widget, use the search input to look for reviews with short, punchy text. A brief testimonial of one or two sentences reads clearly as a card moves across the screen, while a long paragraph is hard to absorb before it scrolls out of view.
Step 4: Open the Filter Panel
Click the Filter button next to the search input to expand the filter panel. The panel gives you five categories of filters you can apply individually or in combination:
- Review Type: Limit the list to video reviews, audio reviews, text comments, highlighted text, images, or favourites. For a ticker layout, text reviews are typically the best fit since the card content needs to be readable at a glance as it scrolls.
- Source Platform: Show only reviews imported from a specific platform such as Google, Trustpilot, G2, or Capterra. Use this filter when you want the ticker to represent a particular source or match a campaign targeting visitors who already know that platform.
- Star Rating: Filter by 1 to 3 stars or 4 to 5 stars. For a horizontally scrolling ticker, selecting only 4 and 5 star reviews ensures every card that passes your visitors conveys strong satisfaction.
- Sentiment: Choose positive, neutral, or negative sentiment. Filtering for positive sentiment alongside a high star rating produces the most confidence-building content for the ticker display.
- Labels: Filter by any label you have assigned to reviews in your Reviews section. Labels let you group reviews by product line, customer segment, or campaign, so you can build a ticker tailored to a specific audience or page context.
Step 5: Apply Your Chosen Filters
Select the filter values that match the reviews you want in the ticker. The review list updates in real time as you apply each filter, so you can see the narrowed results immediately. You can combine any number of filters at the same time. For example, filter by Source Platform set to Google, Star Rating set to 4 to 5 stars, and Sentiment set to positive to surface your most compelling Google reviews in a single shortlist.
Once the list shows the reviews that fit the ticker format, check the count of results. If you have more than 8 matching reviews, you have a strong pool to choose from. If the filtered list is very small, loosen one filter to broaden the results slightly.
Step 6: Select Reviews from the Filtered List
Click any review card in the filtered list to select it for your Horizontal Scroll widget. A checkmark appears on the card to confirm the selection. To add every review currently visible in the filtered list at once, click Select All at the top of the list. Only the reviews matching your active search and filters are selected, not your entire library.
Aim to select at least 8 reviews so the horizontal ticker has enough variety to loop without the same card appearing again too quickly. A larger pool makes the continuous scrolling motion feel natural and varied for every visitor who sees the widget.
Step 7: Clear Filters and Save
After making your selection, you can clear the active filters to return to the full review list and check whether you want to add any additional reviews. When you are satisfied with your selection, click Save & Next to save the chosen reviews to the widget and proceed to the next step in the editor.
What You Can Do Next
- Use the Customise tab in the Horizontal Scroll widget editor to adjust scroll speed, card colors, border style, and shadow so the ticker matches the design of the page where it is embedded.
- Enable the Select All option after applying a high-rating filter to quickly populate the Horizontal Scroll ticker with only your strongest reviews in one click.
- Return to the Select Reviews tab at any time to add newly collected reviews to the ticker, keeping the horizontally scrolling pool fresh and representative of your latest testimonials.
- Copy the embed code from the final step of the widget editor and paste it into your website or CMS to display the Horizontal Scroll ticker live on your page.
