How Do I Use Automation to Auto-Select Reviews on My Vertical Scroll Widget in Feedspace?

Last updated on June 12, 2026

Overview

The Vertical Scroll widget in Feedspace displays your reviews as a continuously and smoothly scrolling vertical feed that loops without pause. Because the widget is always in motion, the review pool it draws from needs to stay current, varied, and consistently high quality. Manually revisiting the Select Reviews tab every time a new testimonial arrives quickly becomes impractical as your review library grows.

The Setup Automation button in the Select Reviews tab solves this by letting you define a set of rules once. From that point, any new review that matches your criteria is added to the widget automatically, with no further action needed. This is especially valuable for the Vertical Scroll layout: automation ensures the constantly moving feed always includes the newest reviews alongside your best older ones, so the loop never goes stale and every site visitor sees fresh social proof.

How to Use Automation to Auto-Select Reviews for Your Vertical Scroll Widget

Step 1: Open Your Vertical Scroll Widget Editor

Log in to Feedspace and navigate to the Widgets section from the left sidebar. Locate your Vertical Scroll widget in the list and click the edit icon to open the widget editor.

Step 2: Go to the Select Reviews Tab

Inside the widget editor, click the Select Reviews tab. This tab shows your full review library along with the tools for both manual selection and automation.

Step 3: Click Setup Automation

Click the Setup Automation button in the Select Reviews tab. The automation filter panel opens on the right side of the screen. Toggle automation on to activate it. Once enabled, Feedspace will begin monitoring incoming reviews and automatically adding any that match your configured rules to the Vertical Scroll widget.

Step 4: Configure Your Automation Rules

With the automation panel open, choose which types of reviews should be automatically included in your Vertical Scroll widget. You can apply one rule or combine several to get a precisely targeted review pool:

  • Star Ratings: Automatically include reviews rated 1 to 3 stars or 4 to 5 stars. Selecting 4 to 5 stars ensures only your highest-rated reviews flow through the continuously scrolling feed.
  • Review Sentiment: Filter by positive, neutral, or negative sentiment. Choosing positive sentiment surfaces enthusiastic testimonials that hold viewer attention as each card scrolls into view.
  • Review Type: Limit automation to video, audio, text, highlighted text, image, or favourite reviews. Mixing types adds visual variety to the scrolling display.
  • Keywords: Include reviews that contain specific words or phrases, or exclude reviews with certain terms. Use this to surface reviews mentioning a product feature or use case you want to highlight in the feed.
  • Reviewer Details: Only include reviews where the reviewer has a name, profile image, job role, or company name, ensuring every card in the scrolling feed looks complete and credible.
  • Review Forms: Pull reviews collected through a specific Feedspace form, useful if you run separate forms for different products or audiences.
  • Auto-Imported Sources: Include reviews from platforms connected to your auto-import, so the widget stays in sync as new reviews arrive from external sources.
  • Imported Review Sources: Filter by manually imported review platforms to focus the scrolling feed on a specific source.

Step 5: Save Your Automation Rules

Once you have configured your rules, click Save in the automation panel to store your settings. Then click Save or Save & Next in the widget editor to apply the changes. From this point, Feedspace will automatically add any new review that matches your rules to the Vertical Scroll widget, keeping the looping feed fresh without any manual effort.

Step 6: Reset Automation If Needed

If you want to change or remove your automation rules, open the automation panel again and click Reset. This clears all configured filters. You can then toggle automation off to stop automatic selection entirely, or set up a fresh configuration with new rules.

What You Can Do Next

  • Combine automation with manual selection in the Select Reviews tab to lock in specific reviews you always want in the Vertical Scroll feed while letting automation fill the rest.
  • Use the search and filter tools in the Select Reviews tab to browse and hand-pick additional reviews that complement the ones automation has already added to the widget.
  • Adjust the scroll speed and display settings in the widget editor Customise tab so the continuously moving feed matches the pace and visual style of the page it is embedded on.
  • Return to the automation panel at any time to refine your rules, for example tightening the keyword filter or raising the star rating threshold, to keep the scrolling feed quality high as your review library grows.
