What Happens When I Import Duplicate Customers in Feedspace?

Last updated on June 15, 2026

How Feedspace Handles Duplicate Emails

Feedspace uses email address as the unique identifier for each customer. If you import a file that contains an email address already in your customer list, Feedspace updates the existing record with any new data from the import file rather than creating a second entry.

This means you can safely re-import a customer list to update names, phone numbers, or tags without worrying about creating duplicates.

Understanding the Import Summary

After every import, Feedspace shows a result summary with three counts:

  • Added: New customers that did not exist in your list before the import.
  • Updated: Existing customers whose records were updated with data from the import file.
  • Skipped: Rows that could not be imported because of a missing or invalid email address.

Common Questions

Will importing a duplicate email enroll the customer in automation twice?

No. Because Feedspace updates the existing record rather than creating a new one, the customer remains a single entry. They will not receive duplicate emails from your automation.

Can I view which rows were skipped?

Yes. On the import result screen, click View skipped rows to see which rows were not imported and the reason each was rejected.

What if the same email appears twice in my import file?

If your file contains the same email address on two different rows, Feedspace processes the first occurrence and uses it to add or update the record. The second row with the same email is treated as a duplicate and counted as updated rather than added a second time.
