How Do I Use Thumbs Up or Down Ratings in Feedspace?

Feedspace gives you two rating styles to match your audience. Star ratings (1 to 5) are great for benchmarking satisfaction over time. Thumbs up or down (like or dislike) gives reviewers a frictionless one-tap choice, which can increase completion rates on quick feedback or internal forms.

What You Can Do

1. Open the Capture Review Tab

  • Log in to Feedspace and go to Forms in the left sidebar.
  • Open the form you want to edit.
  • Click the Capture Review tab in the form editor.

2. Enable Text Review and Ratings

In the Text Review section, make sure Allow Text Review and Allow Ratings are both toggled on.

3. Select the Like/Dislike Rating Type

Under Rating Type, select Like/Dislike. The form preview updates to show thumbs up and thumbs down buttons instead of stars.

4. Save the Form

Click Save. Reviewers will now see a thumbs up and thumbs down button when submitting a text review through this form.

5. Switch Back to Star Ratings

Return to the Rating Type selector and choose Star Rating at any time. Save the form to apply the change.

Comparing Rating Types

  • Star Rating: Gives reviewers a scale of 1 to 5. Useful for benchmarking satisfaction scores or enabling smart redirection based on rating level.
  • Like/Dislike: A binary choice. Better for quick pulse checks, internal feedback forms, or audiences who find a 5-point scale confusing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use smart redirection with thumbs up ratings?

Smart redirection is designed for star ratings (it triggers on 4 or 5 stars). It is not available when the Like/Dislike rating type is selected.

Does switching rating types affect existing reviews?

No. Reviews already collected are not changed. Existing star ratings remain stored as numbers; the change only affects new submissions.
