Before activating your automation, Feedspace lets you preview exactly how each email will look in a recipient’s inbox and send yourself a real test copy. The preview renders the email server-side — the same way it will appear to your customers — so what you see is what they get, on both desktop and mobile screen sizes.
What You Can Do
- See the rendered subject, sender name, body, and CTA button before any email is sent
- Switch between Desktop (640 px) and Mobile (375 px) preview modes with one click
- Send a real test email to your own inbox to check formatting in your email client
- Preview and test each email in the sequence independently
How to Preview an Email
1. Expand the Email Card
- Log in to Feedspace and go to Forms in the left sidebar.
- Open the form and click the Automation tab.
- Click the expand arrow on the email card you want to preview.
2. Open the Preview
Click Desktop or Mobile in the Email preview row. A preview panel opens showing:
- The From name and address
- The Reply-To address
- The Subject line
- The full rendered body with variables substituted with sample values
- The CTA button with your configured label and colour
3. Switch Between Desktop and Mobile
Use the Desktop and Mobile toggle at the top of the preview panel to switch views. Desktop renders at 640 px (standard email client width). Mobile renders at approximately 375 px (simulating a phone screen) to check how the layout reflows on smaller screens.
How to Send a Test Email
1. Save the Draft First
The test send button is disabled until a draft has been saved at least once and there are no unsaved edits. Click Save Draft on the Automation tab before trying to test.
2. Click the Test Send Button
On the expanded email card, click the Test send button at the bottom. A tooltip shows which email address the test will be sent to — this is your Feedspace account email address. Click to confirm.
3. Check Your Inbox
A real copy of that email is delivered to your inbox within a few seconds. Check the subject line, body formatting, variable substitution, and CTA button in your actual email client. If anything needs adjusting, click Edit on the card, make changes, save, and test again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Test send button greyed out?
The button is disabled for two reasons: the automation draft has never been saved, or there are unsaved edits in the email editor. Save the draft (and close any open edit panels) to enable it.
Can I send a test to a different email address?
No. The test send always goes to the email address of the currently logged-in Feedspace account. To test how it looks for a different address, log in with that account or forward the test email.
Are personalisation variables shown in the test email?
Yes. The preview and test send substitute your own name and workspace name into the variables, so you can see how a personalised message will read for a real customer.
